It is always a bit bitter sweet to watch your children go into a larger bed. It is exciting, but it is also very nostalgic. As much as I want to give back the time, I try to make the next stage exciting and funny for all of us. The conversion of a kindergarten into a children’s room at school age is an opportunity to work with your child. Last year we transformed my youngest daughter’s bedroom into the bedroom of her dreams. She wanted it to be colorful and funny – just like her personality. Despite all the color, I wanted the room to feel elegant and stylish. Not too childish so that she can enjoy it for many years.

Her old Ikea Minnen bed was a little too small, so we knew that it was time to upgrade to a single bed. We also wanted a bed that would be comfortable for an adult where they can sleep so that this room can be used as a second guest room. I love a bedroom with Uniform furniture. Although the rest of the furniture is quite contemporary, the bed in the farmhouse in style adds exactly the right amount of interest and depth. The bed has a traditional feeling, but fits beautifully into the contemporary style. It is definitely a statement piece that does not remain unnoticed.
Multifunctional
You can never have too much storage space in children’s rooms. The drawers under the bed have a generous size and you can easily remove them if you want to vacuum underneath. My daughter only threw everyone under the bed, so at least now we have a real way to keep everything in order. Maximize spacE in small rooms is so important and even more when it comes to children’s room. We are so desperate for more space that the next thing I want to do is Built -in wardrobes that go to the ceiling. That will be our next big project this year.
MATTRESS
A new bed meant that we needed a new mattress. We selected the Emma Original Hybrid mattress because of the good online reviews. We also have the Eve Sleep mattress (from the same company) in our main bedroom and I was really satisfied with it. I also like that the mattresses come in a vacuum -sealed box that can be easily taken up. The mattress is much thicker than the old mattress at 28 cm, but much more comfortable. It is a Hybrid mattressWhich means that it is a Combination of pocket springs and foam. I would say it is ideal for children and/or small adults. They describe it as a medium solid mattress, but they really sink in what I like. I wouldn’t mind doing a nap here occasionally, I tell you.
Top tip!
If you buy a bed online, don’t forget to check which type of mattress should be recommended. A lighter bed frame is struggling with a thick mattress. A thick mattress can also affect the visual proportions of the bed. Of course, the headboard and the footboard should also be taken into account. The thickest mattress I’ve ever had was 40 cm and it would not have worked on all beds. But if you want comfort like me, it is worth buying a bed that can absorb a thick luxurious mattress.
