I come in my DIY Walk-in Closet project on the fourth week and I have the feeling that I didn’t do this week as much as in the weeks ago. Part of it is because I spent a lot this week to just try to choose a paint color.
And after I compared the two and thought a lot about it, I finally decided to go with blue. So yesterday I went to Sherwin Williams and got six more colors to test them. From top down, these (1) Open Air, (2) are waving breeze, (3) French Moire, (4) sleepy, hollow, (5) sleepy blue and (6) jet stream.
In yesterday’s post I mentioned faded flax flower, but I immediately ruled out when I saw it personally because it has very specific purple under tones. I immediately ruled out moon manure because it was too easy for my taste. But these six seemed to be all good competitors.
I also realized that I should choose colors from Sherwin Williams. Your colors just hit differently. And their color is excellent quality. I always bought in Home Depot in paint colors just because I am there all the time and it’s so comfortable. But I will go to Sherwin Williams more often in the future to have color. Here is a look at the Home Depot Blues on the left and the Sherwin Williams Blues on the right.
Anyway, I will not keep you in tension. I go with the second color, swimming breeze, which looks great with the blue -green blue grasses that I have in the house. It almost looks like a much lighter version of my kitchen cupboard color. It was my immediate favorite before I painted all six samples on the cupboards. I went on and made all six to be safe. But I already had my heart on the breeze.
In other messages after I decided to carry the wallpaper into the laundry area and the back wall of the closet, I had to order two more rolls. I was afraid that waiting for this progress could maintain because my first order took about two months before I came here. But that was over the holidays at the end of the year, so they arrived much faster. You came here yesterday, and as soon as I painted these cupboards, I am ready to install wallpaper!
My cabinet rods also arrived. I went with these oval -shaped brushed gold cabinet rods (affiliate link) and they are beautiful! These have great customer reviews. I went with oval because I thought that the oval shape could make it stronger and no center support would need (at least that made sense in my head ).
The finish is really beautiful. It’s called matte brass on the product list, but it’s not as bright as the product list looks. I was grateful for being honest. You will cut it to the exact size you need, but I knew my exact sizes at the time when I ordered them. So I will use my miter saw to cut them myself. I think they will be nice against the blue cupboards.
I decided to order more for my necklace. I finally sit down and think through all the details about my necklace storage and jewelry (ring and earrings) – to think through the top of the glass. I had switched this off because I concentrated on all the big stuff in the closet, but the glass drawer requires tempered glass, which was cut to an individual size, and I had to continue and order it. In the end, I ordered 1/4-inch clarification glass from a day glass that I had found online after searching for tempered glass. The 1/4-inch thickness of tempered glass costs with the shipping to 42 “x 14 3/4” $ 83.15.
With regard to the cupboards that flank the door, I decided to let the doors abandoned. But that means that my plan to save my step guides in the right cabinet does not work. I wanted to see if I could return to my original idea, but instead of putting the job manager on the right of the laundry, I put them on the left in the corner. It protrudes a bit, but since it is in the corner, I think it looks good!
But to test my idea and test the measurements, I had to bleach the other laundry basket. And I have a different problem that you can see. The two laundries have somewhat different colors. Pooh. I don’t want to send it back, so I have to find a solution so that you make the same color look. Either I have to stain the lighter or I have to bleach the darker. I have not decided which option I will test.
Here is the walk -in wardrobe project this morning, while I finish four of the project week. I added the Corbels to the two end cabinets because they remain open, but I still have to grind them. I have wood fillers on all nail holes in the entire cladding, but I only grinded half of them so far. I am still revising the shelves in the two end cabinets and hope to finish them today.
And then I have to concentrate on priming, sealing and painting.
So there was progress this week, but at the same time I have the feeling that I am at the same point at which I was last Friday when I was hoping to do priming, sealing and painting last weekend. * Sigh* I’m not trying to be too hard for myself. I didn’t install any of the molded parts last Friday, and now I do it. And then I decided to add Corbels what took time. And I just have to be patient and work hard. After all, this is the biggest build I’ve ever done.
At the same time, I have to start seeing some of the large objects from my list for my own spiritual well -being and my own motivation. Now that I have selected my paint color and I will not be distracted over the weekend, I hope that I can concentrate and make great progress in this project!
