Here is the reason why I will grind my newly completed floors again

You will think I would have lost my mind and maybe I have it. When I told my mother about my potential plans, she definitely gave me that “You have lost your mind”Look. But I very much considered that we grind our bedroom suite back down. Now before you freak out, let me enter my case.

We have had dark floors in our house for almost twelve years. When we bought our house in 2013, I first remove the entire carpet to relieve the original Red Oak hardwood floors. They were already dark.

And then I sanded them and reworked them. And once again they were dark.

And then four years later I went Even darker In the finish to get rid of some of the red. After all, they are Red Oak floors, so that they tend to have red/orange/pink under tones, unless steps are taken to remove these undertones.

However, all of this to say that I have lived with dark wooden floors for almost 12 years now. (It will be 12 years in August.)

I don’t like dark wooden floors. In fact, I really love dark soils. But in recent years I have attracted more and more lighter, lighter, natural wooden floors. In fact, they don’t even have to be a natural wood color. I have just cared for lighter soils in general. You will find that every time I have the opportunity to do something else, I get light and light.

When I decided to paint the floor in the original guest room, I became light and bright.

When I originally ended the soil in my studio, I became bright and bright with a white whitewashed finish.

And when I made the last painted finish on my studio floor, I got light and light again.

So my love for light floors is not entirely out of the blue. It is what I apparently feel every time I feel like I have the opportunity to do something else. And for at least a few years now I have wished that we have light, natural wooden floors in our house instead of the dark soils that we have had for almost 12 years. Every time I see a house with light natural wooden floors, I become a little jealous and wish I could have it in our house.

The task of repeating all of our floors seemed to be so discouraging, and I thought I was only stuck with dark soils from here. I plan to live in this house for the rest of my life, so I only have to have dark soils until I die because the challenges of the soil seemed completely inappropriate, right?

So when it was time to end the floors in our main bedroom suite, I didn’t even consider another option. Of course, I thought my only option was to try to coordinate the soil with the rest of the house, because I put with dark floors until the day I die. At this point there are no other options. Without taking into account other options or our long -term plans, I simply decided. I bought the stain and ended our newly installed Red Oak floors to meet the rest of the house.

These are the areas with the new wooden floors that I have just colored and polyurethaned to meet the rest of the house …

But in the past a week or two I started to recognize what a gigantic Opportunity that I missed. If I had thought out, I would have recognized that The Was my opportunity to be light, bright and natural with our wooden floors. Yes, it would have to be done in pieces, but That was itAnd I missed it. Let me explain.

One of our future plans is that the current kitchen is transformed into the dining room and transformed the current breakfast room and the pantry into a much larger kitchen than the one we currently have.

Well, when I come to this project, it will affect the flooring. At the moment, some of the kitchen holder (half that is on the side of the breakfast room) does not have a hardwood floor underneath because I had to build it and in which I made these two rooms.

If this area is redesigned, new floor coverings must be set so that it has all the hardwood floors.

When I divided the original cave into two rooms – a breakfast room and a pantry – I first built the wall and then installed the hardwood floor around it.

This means that this hardwood floor, when this wall is removed, also needs a lot of work to continuously make it continuously.

As soon as these repairs have been carried out, this entire area must be sanded down and reworked. What better opportunity to make you light, bright and natural?

And then it is planned to build an addition on the back of the house. This means that these areas need all new hardwood floors that have to be ended. (The bathroom has tile floors.) It would be so easy to keep them lightly and natural.

So what’s that going? Basically, this only leaves the living room and the music room. And since the new dining room and the new kitchen have to be done anyway, this would be the perfect opportunity to make these two rooms.

In the past few weeks and a half I have beaten myself to miss this opportunity. At first I thought I had handed over the point without a return, so I only came in front of me in my closet and tried to paint it out of my head. But in the past few days I have found that I did not pass the point without return. The point would be without return, as soon as I end the bedroom, fill the bedroom suite with our new furniture and move completely into the new bedroom. As soon as everything is drawn in and matt has settled, The Would be the point without return. If I am not correct before this point, I am really locked up in dark soils with dark soils until the day I die.

But at the moment I still have the opportunity. This area is still complete “under construction. ““ We do not live in these rooms (although we go through to get to the bathroom), and the rooms are completely free of furniture or other obstacles.

Of course I built the cupboards in my closet, but despite these cupboards I could still change the course.

So my opportunity is now and it is either now or never. And I think I want to take the opportunity. If I look at our wooden floors in the rest of the house – the floors that have stained and lived since 2017 – I can see some wear and tear at the finish line in the finish. So dark -stained surfaces do not last forever and they are more difficult to repair. A light, bright, natural wood with just a clear coat would be so much easier to repair and still looks good for the long distance.

I think I’ll do it. I wish I had thought about it a month ago, and I wish I had considered it more thoroughly before I only decided that I was stuck with dark soils for the rest of my life. But if my choice is now or never, I would rather choose now. I would rather choose a little trouble and inconvenience than to hold on forever because I didn’t use my opportunity to get too correct if I had the chance.

(It is clear to me that I will write this post on April 1st. I will let you decide whether you think that I joke or not.
